With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I feel that now is an appropriate time to say… I do not give a flip about this holiday. No, I’m not bitter; in fact, I have a sweetheart who makes me swoon. I just think that love is a beautiful thing that should be celebrated continually, not only once a year on the arbitrary day Hallmark has designated. Sure, it’s sweet to be acknowledged on February 14th, but the heart of a relationship is truly revealed during the other 364 days of the year that aren’t dripping with chocolate and rose petals. Teddy bears and jewelry and cards are nice, but when given as obligatory Valentine schwag, much too predictable. A desperately needed hug after a long day, surprise snapdragons, unexpected treats, sincere compliments, and sharing the last piece of cheesecake – these are the things that make a heart double-beat. Your behavior on Valentine’s Day should not be the exception; it should be the norm. So go forth and celebrate your honey this weekend, just don’t drop the passion when February 15th rolls around.
love, love, love, love, crazy love
